Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive at Anavilhanas Lodge

From Manaus, dive deep into the Amazon Rainforest to the Anavilhanas Lodge located amidst the world’s largest freshwater archipelago. Step foot into the eco-friendly, cozy jungle hotel where the staff will greet you with a welcome drink. After settling in and enjoying lunch, tour Anavilhanas’s surrounding terrain by boat and go alligator spotting!

Day 2 - Jungle Hike & Educational Lecture

Today, enjoy breakfast in the lodge and then embark on a jungle hike alongside a naturalist guide. Later, explore a part of the river where pink dolphins and piranha swim at ease. At night, savor a traditional dinner at the lodge and then listen in on an educational lecture about the Anavilhanas region performed by local professional guides.

Day 3 - Birdwatching Canoe Trip & Local Craft Visit

This morning, wake up early to see the sunrise over the Amazonian treetops. Then, relax on a birdwatching canoe trip. After the morning’s adventures, return to the lodge for breakfast. The rest of the morning is spent visiting a local craft shop and shipyard builders, including a special visit to a caboclo family who lives near the Amazon river. In the evening, relax at the lodge’s bar, game room, library or swimming pool.

Day 4 - Expert Archery Lesson

Today, meet a caboclo (a person of indigenous Brazilian and European descent) archery expert for a lesson on using the bow and arrow in the jungle. Learn unique technique in archery skills. Later, return to the lodge for lunch and prepare for departure back to Manaus.

Note: The Anavilhana’s staff defines the order of the day-to-day excursions above. The official schedule of activities will be delivered upon the arrival of the guests.

Day 5 - Arrive at the Pantanal

Transfer to the Manaus Airport for an early flight to Cuiabá. Upon arrival, prepare transfer to the Araras Pantanal Eco Lodge. The two hours journey from the airport to Araras Pantanal Eco Lodge is meant to be a photo-safari with plenty of opportunities to capture vistas of fording fields, bays, and grazing lands. Upon arrival at the Araras Pantanal Eco Lodge, enjoy a welcome drink and get settled. Later, embark on an afternoon hike and reach the Mirante da Garça for a unique view of the sunset. After dinner, traverse on a stargazing trek and listen to the sounds of the Pantanal.

Day 6 - Horseback Riding & Jungle Hike

Today, dedicate time to observing the unique flora and fauna of the Pantanal at the Araras Eco Lodge private reserve. Take a 2 – 3-hour horse ride through the grazing fields, woods and wetlands. Spot incredible wildlife and enjoy the Pantanal’s natural beauty. In the afternoon, enjoy lunch at the lodge and then hike to a different area of the reservation for a new perspective of the ecosystem.

Day 7: Clarinho River, Piranha Fishing & Barbecue Picnic

After breakfast, travel to Clarinho River. Here, take a canoe and explore the river banks, mangroves, and forest. With some luck, spot a family of giant otters playing in the water and teaching their babies to swim. Travelers might even spot one of the shy Jaguars in the area. The chance to fish for elusive Piranha is available here. Lambaris, another species of freshwater fish are also available and typically a more straightforward catch! Later, enjoy a picnic barbecue lunch which will be prepared at the campsite. Then return to the loge for the rest of the afternoon.

Day 8: Sunrise Hike & Transfer to Foz do Iguassu

Embark on an early start to see the sunrise from the top of Mirante da Garça (Heron’s Tower). Listen to the sounds of the birds leaving the nests for the day and the rising sun touching the vegetation. After lunch, transfer to Cuiaba for a flight to Foz do Iguassu Airport. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel.

Day 9: Argentina's Iguazu National Park, San Martin Falls & Devil's Throat

Today visit Argentina’s Iguazu National Park! Wander around a series of walkways which trail through the lush forest of the park and lead to the San Martin Falls and the Devil’s Throat. Then, cross the Tancredo Neves Bridge with a lovely view off Iguassu Canyon in route to Iguazu National Park in Argentina. Lastly, visit the upper walkways which allow a different perspective and more intimate contact with the falls and adjoining rainforest filled with orchids, bromeliads, birds and other wildlife.

Day 10: Brazil's Iguacu National Park & Departure

On the final day of this Amazon, Pantanal and Iguazu Falls Tour, visit Brazil’s Iguacu National Park. First, check out the exhibits in the visitor’s center and then take a bus ride to incredible vantage points of the falls. An elevator up to a lookout platform provides a bird’s eye view of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. This panoramic view of the falls is the perfect ending to this nature and wildlife tour.
