Volunteer & Student Travel in India
On arrival in the capital city Delhi, volunteers are picked up from the airport by one of our local representatives, who then transfers the volunteers to their accommodation place. A detailed orientation session is conducted on the next day by the local coordinator, during which the volunteers are explained about their project and all the upcoming tour activities, Dos and Don’ts, places to eat and shop, culture and traditions, and more. This will be followed by a city tour of Delhi, including visits to some of the most famous heritage sites in the city.
During the Delhi leg of the trip, volunteers will be working at the Street Children Centers where they spend some quality time with children while playing with them, helping them with their school work, cook for them, teach them some new skills, help them improve their vocabulary, and more.
After an exciting first week in the capital, volunteers will then head to the pristine hill town of Palampur; in the state of Himachal Pradesh. Palampur is surrounded by the mighty Himalayas, making it a perfect location to sooth your senses and embrace the natural beauty all around. After first 4 days of volunteering with children at the local childcare center, volunteers will leave for an adventurous 2 days 1 night trek to a point named Triund. Experience some breathtaking view on the trail and at the peak, and camp overnight.
After 2 weeks of volunteering with children and weekend tours, its time for some full fledged trips to some of the best cities in northern part of India. Volunteers leave for the vibrant city of Amritsar from Dharamsala (closely located from Palampur), where they will visit the largest shrine of Sikh community; The Golden Temple. This will be followed by, one of the most awaited pit stop for many, a trip to The Taj Mahal in Agra. Next destination would be the city of Jaipur in the royal state of Rajasthan. Here, you will experience working with elephants and relish local delicacies while enjoying cultural folk performances.
Jaipur will mark as the last leg of this exciting 3 weeks of volunteering, adventure treks, cultural introduction, and lifetime of memories.
Volunteers will move back to Delhi to catch their flights back home. However, for those, who feel that they haven’t had enough, can continue their journey by adding an additional week in Goa; known as the Goa Beach Week Extension. Volunteers can add this extended beach week to their experience program at the time of applying, and enjoy some rest and relaxation time at enthralling beaches of Goa.
